You board the transatlantic flight from your respective

Day 02

ARRIVE AMSTERDAM - APELDOORN
After arrival in Amsterdam - transfer to Apeldoorn
and at leisure before dinner (D) |
Day 03
|
APELDOORN
Today we have a busy day as we visit to Holten cemetery
- then south to Groesbeek cemetery and on to Arnhem and
Nijmegen before returning in time for dinner (B,D) |
Day 04
|
APELDOORN AMSTERDAM
We drive to Amsterdam and enjoy the city during a
Canal Boat cruise then in the afternoon embarkation
and welcome cocktails before dinner aboard the MS Amadeus
(B) |
Day 05
|
CRUISING COLOGNE
The morning finds us cruising along the legendary
Rhine. Peacefully we cross the Dutch-German border and
dock in Cologne, near the beautiful cathedral
get to know the town during our city tour on foot (O-1)
or simply explore on your own this evening you
might want to stroll through the nearby old town |
Day 06
|
KOBLENZ RUEDESHEIM
After a walking tour of Koblenz in the morning (O-2)
we continue through the dramatic Rhine Gorge, an especially
beautiful stretch of the river and see the legendary
Lorelei Rock a guided evening tour introduces
lively Ruedesheim as we visit Siegfrieds Musical
Museum followed by dinner in the Ruedesheimer Schloss
with live music and wine from the region (O-3) |
Day 07
|
FRANKFURT ASCHAFFENBURG
Disembark in Mainz - we will visit the Gutenberg
Museum with a demonstration of the masters printing
methods, tour the cathedral and admire the stained glass
windows by Chagall in St. Nicholas Church; we then drive
on to Frankfurt and enjoy a short tour of Germanys
financial capital before rejoining the ship in Frankfurt
(O-4) then we continue our cruise up the tranquil
Main River to Aschaffenburg after dinner you might
want to take stroll around the old town and see the impressive
Johannisburg Palace |
Day 08
|
MILTENBERG
A walking tour of this old Franconian town reveals
photogenic cobblestone lanes lined with gabled, half
timbered houses; from Miltenberg we head by bus to the
little town of Wertheim where you may enjoy some free
time to shop or explore on your own (O-5) this
afternoon enjoy cruising through the valley of the meandering
Main, which has always been the lifeline of the region
we pass picturesque towns like Rothenfels and
Lohr before docking late in the evening at Karlstadt |
Day 09
|
WUERZBURG ROTHENBURG
- KARLSTADT
Cruise past vine-covered hills to Wuerzburg, the
Queen of the Main after a tour of
the beautiful Residenz Palast, the former home of the
Prince Bishops, we continue along the Romantic
Road to Rothenburg, Europes best preserved
medieval town; we have lunch in a local restaurant before
a guided walking tour, taking in the St.Jakobs
Church with its Riemenschneider altar (O-6) - some time
at leisure before returning to the ship awaiting you
at Karlstadt |
Day 10
|
BAMBERG
This morning we cruise past enchanting villages and
arrive in Bamberg, you may stay on board ( the ship is
moored in the Main Danube Canal ) or join us,
as buses bring us to the city center, where you will
visit the Residenz and then you have time on your own
before being transferred back to the ship (O-7)
the town is listed as a perfectly preserved architectural
gem by the UNESCO we continue our cruise to Nuremberg |
Day 11
|
NUREMBERG
Enjoy a guided tour of this historic city with its
ancient city walls and elegant patrician houses
we will visit the castle and also drive by the infamous
court house buildings where the remaining Nazi leaders
were tried in 1945 (O-8) at lunch time cruise
through the highest point of any commercial waterway
in Europe 1332 feet above sea level then
descend through stair step locks in Riedenburg where
you will spend the night |
Day 12

REGENSBURG
Early this morning your ship glides through the tranquil
Altmuehl Valley and enters the Danube River an
afternoon guided tour through the beautiful and ancient
architectural gem, Regensburg is being complemented by
a brief concert in the Cathedral by a quartet who were
former members of the boys choir Regensburger Spatzen
(O-9) at night you have the opportunity to explore
the illuminated city as we are docking overnight |
Day 13
|
PASSAU LINZ - VIENNA
At the border city of Passau the Inn and Ilz rivers
join the Danube in an area where Celts settled over 2000
years ago we will leave the AMADEUS and tour the
the old town, including the Baroque cathedral of St.Stephens,
containing the largest pipe organ in the world
then we have an early lunch before continuing past the
town of Linz to the infamous Mauthausen Konzentration
camp - a step back into the darkest periods of history
awaits us before we head for the illustrous capital of
Austria Vienna check in and dinner (B,L,D) |
Day 14
|
VIENNA
Today we travel to Melk and we visit the magnificent
Benedictine Abbey; we will tour this Baroque jewel with
its art treasures after lunch we travel through
the romantic Wachau Valley, Austrias most beautiful
river region, doted with castles like Duernstein, where
King Richard the Lionhearted was kept prisoner, enjoy
a leisurely walk through this charming village before
we return to Vienna where we have dinner or you
might want to join us for an evening of music: transfer
to the beautiful Palais Liechtenstein, where you will
be treated to music by Mozart, who lived and died in
Vienna and by the Strauss family with their
operettas and waltzes ( O-10) (B,L,D) |
Day 15
|
VIENNA
This morning we have a City Tour with all the major
sites from the lavish Hofburg Palace to the Ringstrasse,
the impressive Opera House Schönbrunn Palace
is also on our agenda this afternoon there is
a little time at leisure before our farewell dinner at
a typical Viennese restaurant with local music (B,D) |

Transfer to the airport for flight home (B) |
