ARRIVE MADRID
Afternoon arrival transfer to hotel - at leisure before
dinner (D)

| Day 03
|
MADRID – SEGOVIA –
MADRID
Enjoy our day trip to Segovia, the Classic example
of an Old Castillian town that spans pre-Roman and medieval
worlds – “ El Puente”, the Roman aqueduct
is one of the highlights along with the fairy tale looking
Alcazar (Palace) - it was here that Isabella was proclaimed
Queen of Spain before sending off Colombus on his explorations
a few years later – return to Madrid in time for
dinner (B,D)

| Day 04
|
MADRID
Morning City Tour including the Royal Palace, Puerta
del Sol and the Cervantes Memorial and we end the tour
with a visit to the famous Prado Museum, afternoon at leisure
for shopping before dinner (B,D)

| Day 05
|
MADRID – EL ESCORIAL
– AVILA – MADRID
All day excursion to El Escorial with the Palace and
then on to Avila, a beautiful walled city and once one
of the strongholds of the reconquest which ended in 1492
– the battlements of Avila have to be considered
amongst the best examples of medieval fortifications –
return late afternoon and evening Flamenco Show (B,D)

MADRID - TOLEDO - GRANADA
In the morning we leave for Toledo, the town where
El Greco, the famous painter spent a number of years -
we visit the Gothic Cathedral and the Church of Santo Tome
as well as a Toledo steel workshop, then we head for Granada
- check in and dinner (B,D) |
| Day 07

GRANADA
Morning tour of the town including the Alhambra, the
greatest marvel of Moorish culture in Europe - in the afternoon
you have time on your own and to check out the historic
Albaijcin quarter on your own – after dinner maybe
enjoy an evening with Gypsy music in one of the caves along
the hillside (B, D)

| Day 08

GRANADA - MALAGA –
GIBRALTAR – SEVILLE
Past Malaga we travel along the Costa del Sol to the
Rock of Gibraltar, overlooking the Straits – we switch
to mini vans as we visit St.Michael’s caves and of
course the famous apes, running still wild atop the Rock
- in the late afternoon we continue on past the Punta de
Tarifa to Seville, the Pearl of Andalusia - check in and
dinner (B,D) |
| Day 09

SEVILLE
City Tour in the morning with the Bell Tower, Maria
Luisa Park, and the massive Gothic Cathedral with the tomb
of Christopher Columbus – time to visit the Santa
Cruz district with its quaint shops and bars or do some
shopping in the most beautiful city of Spain (B,D)

| Day 10

SEVILLE – CORDOBA
- SEVILLE
Join us for a trip to Cordoba where we visit the impressive
mesquite, one of the legacies the Islam left behind during
its 700 years reign of the Iberian peninsula - later in
the afternoon we return back to Seville (B,D) |
| Day 11
|
SEVILLE - ALGARVE
Today we travel to the Algarve, the South Coast of
Portugal – en route we pass Huelva, from where Columbus
set out to find the sea passage to India – these
days the Algarve has developed into one of the summer hot
spots of Europe and travelers come to enjoy the scenery
as well as the favorable climate (B,D)

| Day 12
|
ALGARVE – LISBON
Drive along the coast to the Sagres Peninsula and
the Compass Rose of Henry the Navigator on Europe’s
most southwesterly point – enjoy the coast, the fishing
villages and maybe a visit to Portimao – we depart
late afternoon for Lisbon – check in and dinner (B,D)

| Day 13
|
LISBON
In the morning we tour the medieval quarter with the
tomb of Vasco da Gama inside the Hieronymite monastery
as well as the Tower of Belem and St.George’s castle
– some time at leisure and in the evening we enjoy
melancholic Fado melodies and local dances during our farewell
dinner evening (B,D)

LISBON - CANADA
Transfer to the airport for our flight home (B) |
