You board the transatlantic flight from your respective
departure cities |
| Day 02
|
ARRIVE -
ROME
After arrival in the eternal city transfer to the
hotel and time at leisure before dinner |
| Day 03
|
ROME
Morning sightseeing tour of this town full of art
treasures and history - we visit the Vatican and enjoy
a panoramic tour including the Colosseum and the Piazza
Venezia - then we have a leisurely walking tour to the
Trevi Fountain and the Piazza Navona before dinner |
| Day 04
|
ROME –
MONTECASSINO – ANZIO – ROME
In the morning we head south and climb the hill of
Montecassino ( by bus of course!) and visit the Canadian
Cemetery at the foot of this stronghold - this strategic
location was one of the most fought over in all of Italy
and we will also have some time in Cassino itself –
afterwards we head to the beachtowns of Anzio and Nettuno,
where the Americans landed before returning to Rome –
and this evening we head out to Tivoli, just east of
Rome, the Old Romans' spa - and we enjoy an early dinner
in a nice setting before returning to Rome |
| Day 05
|
ROME –
ORTONA
This morning we head east – past the Gran Sasso
Mountain Range to the Adriatic – and in the afternoon
visit already the town of Ortona, with Casa Berardi -
check in later in the afternoon |
| Day 06
|
ORTONA
We have all day in this town which holds so many
memories for Canadians – and we start with a morning
ceremony at Moro River Cemetery - then we spend a bit
of time in Ortona, and visit the new Museum, dedicated
to the war times and we will also have a meet with the
officials of the town – we will also travel south
along the coast and visit Sangro River Cemetery (Commonwealth)

| Day 07
|
ORTONA –
URBINO - RIMINI
This morning we take off north, stopping in the medieval
town of Urbino – then we head to the seaside community
of Rimini – before arriving to Rimini we pay a
visit to the Montecchio Cemetery |
| Day 08
|
RIMINI
Morning departure for Gradara and Corriano Ridge
Cemeteries – and we will of course get a good glimpse
at the hills and ridges of he area as we drive through
small villages and agricultural areas as well - in the
afternoon we "climb" up to the mountain Republic
of San Marino, the world's oldest Republic! before returning
to Rimini |
| Day 09
|
RIMINI
Today we visit Villanova, Cessena and Ravenna Cemeteries
– we again will get an idea of the geography of
the area as we drive through the region which is dominated
by rivers and fields - and you can also spend some time
in Rimini itself, the largest seaside resort along the
Adriatic Coast |
| Day 10
|
RIMINI -
VENICE
After breakfast we depart for Venice where we take
a watertaxi into the city centre and enjoy the area around
Piazza San Marco and the Basilica - afterwards we check
into the hotel and have our farewell dinner |
Day 11

VENICE -
CANADA
This morning ransfer to the airport for our flight
home where we arrive the same day |
