Departure from Vancouver at 16.05 with LH 493 for Frankfurt
– be at the International Airport check in counter

SALZBURG AREA
Arrival Frankfurt at 10.35 and transfer to flight LH
138 at 12.10 - Upon arrival at 13:05 in Munich drive
to Salzburg – check in and a bit of time at leisure
before dinner (D)

City Tour of Salzburg including Mozart’s birth
house – afternoon visit to Lake District with areas
where Sound of Music was filmed – concert in Bad
Ischl, the summer retreat town of the former Austrian
Royals (B,D)

– DUERNSTEIN – VIENNA
Drive to Melk and visit to Austria’s most famous
Benedictine Monastery with its library and great location
high above the Danube - then short boat trip to Duernstein
( Richard Lionheart was kept prisoner there ) –
from there on to Vienna (B,D)

VIENNA
City Tour with all the major sites like the Opera along
the Ringstrasse as well as St.Stephen’s and of
course Schoenbrunn Palace – then in the afternoon
there is a concert in the outskirts of Vienna –
and an early dinner afterwards (B,D)

VIENNA
Excursion to Eisenstadt at Lake Neusiedl ( at the border
to Hungary ) and along the lake we have a lunch with
Folk Music followed by a horse carriage ride to the lake
and from there are brief boat ride on Lake Neusiedl –
we return to Vienna later in the afternoon (B,L,D)

VIENNA – GRAZ –
SOUTHERN AUSTRIA/LAKE KEUTSCHACH
Visit to Graz ( Austria’s second largest city,
home town of Arnold Schwarzenegger and beautifully situated
old town ) en route to Southern Austria – check
in and dinner (B,D)

SOUTHERN AUSTRIA/LAKE
KEUTSCHACH
Carinthia is Austria’s “Choir” province
with more than 600 choirs ( for 500,000 inhabitants!
) – we enjoy a day in the mountains and maybe visit
to Klagenfurt, the capital ( depending on weather ) in
the evening there is an early dinner – and then
concert at the private Castle Hallegg together with a
local choir (B,D)

SOUTHERN AUSTRIA –
LJUBLJANA – POSTOJNA – PIRAN
To Slovenia and stop in Ljubljana, the capital - then
the famous caves of Postojna ( by train into this labyrinth
of Stalagtites and Stalagmites ) – and we end the
day in Piran, at the coast (B,D)

A day to enjoy Piran, a picturesque village along the
coast and Portoroz, a holiday town enjoyed by many during
the summer months (B,D)

PIRAN – VENICE
– ABANO TERME / MONTEGROTTO
Short drive to Italy and afternoon visit to Venice with
St.Mark’s Basilica and the famous St.Mark’s
Square in front – enjoy “getting lost”
in the narrow streets of this unique town – afterwards
on to our overnight in the spa area of Abano/Montegrotto

- LAGO DI GARDA
Traveling west we visit Verona, a charming town with
the famous Arena di Verona ( where outdoor Operas take
place during the summer ) and also of course the location
Shakespeare chose for his play - Juliet’s balcony
is located in the city center and must be seen of course

A day to visit Sirmione and Lazise along the lake –
and in the evening optional Opera performance (CARMEN)
at the Arena di Verona or relax and enjoy the warm summer
evenings famous for this area ( actually very much like
the Okanagan ) (B,D)

INNSBRUCK
Travel north to Austria, stopping in Bolzano, the capital
of Alto Adige – we check into our hotel East of
Innsbruck and after dinner enjoy a Tyrolean evening with
dances and songs from the Alps (B,D)

Visit of the town with all the major sites – the
Golden Roof and the Olympic Ski Jump – then lunch
and an early afternoon concert in a village near Innsbruck,
afterwards a bit of time at leisure (B,L,D)

– VANCOUVER
Transfer to airport of Munich for flight LH 191 at 11.05
– arrive Frankfurt at 12.10 and transfer to flight
LH9638 at 14.00 for Calgary – after arrival there
at 15.45 go through customs and transfer to flight AC
225 to Vancouver where you arrive at 17.33 (B)
